VolunteerEvery year a dedicated team of volunteers help the Conservancy carry out its mission to protect Southwest Florida’s natural environment. If you’d like to join this exceptional team please complete a Volunteer Application (see link). When received, the Volunteer Manager will invite you to attend the next scheduled Orientation class held at the Conservancy’s Nature Center. For more information, call 239.403.4212 or email joannj@conservancy.org Volunteer Positions* Nature Discovery Center - Docents: Provide guided tours through the Discovery Center. Comprehensive training is provided. * Nature Center - Guest Information: Welcome visitors, collect admission fees, answer phones and provide information to the public. * Nature Store and Upscale Resale Stores: Assist with retail sales, pricing, inventory, tagging items, store displays, answering phones and filing. * Boat Captains: Provide educational guided tours of the Gordon River aboard the Conservancy’s small electric boats. Experience with boat handling is preferred. * Dock Masters: Register guests for boat rides, docking boats and answering guest inquiries. Boating knowledge preferred. * Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (WRC): Assist with the care of injured animals, including preparing food, cleaning enclosures, data entry of admissions, answering WRC phone inquiries. * WRC – Critter Courier: Pick up injured animals and return to WRC. Training provided. * WRC Pavilion – Critter Crew:Talk with visitors about wild animal rehabilitation in the WRC Pavilion. * Special Events: Assist with set-up, parking and pre and post production as needed. * Mailing Crew: Assist with preparing large mailings to Conservancy members. * Environmental Policy Corps: Monitor public hearings and follow legislation issues. Write letters and make calls to support issues as directed by policy department. * Horticultural: Assist with horticultural maintenance and with site surveys. * Trail Guides: Interpret natural wonders along Clam Pass and Tigertail Beach. Comprehensive training provided. Basic knowledge of Florida ecosystems helpful * Concierge Corps: Deliver, place and monitor collateral materials in various SW Florida locations
