CATHERINE BERGERSON

Director of Marketing & Communications


Catherine brings nearly 20 years of experience in communications to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. Her areas of expertise include public relations, brand management, marketing, campaign development and management, media buying, event management, electronic, and digital marketing/advertising, copywriting, and crisis communications.

Her interest in media and communications began in 1996 as an intern for NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw and in 1997 as a White House intern for Press Secretary, Mike McCurry, during the Clinton administration. Prior to her hiring at the Conservancy, Bergerson led marketing and communications programs at a local college and she is a former TV reporter and anchor. Before her journalism career, Bergerson was an account executive for a Kansas-based advertising and marketing agency.

As Director of Marketing and Communications, Catherine oversees the execution of branding, marketing, communications, and public relations programs designed to promote the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, including institutional and advocacy positions, membership and development, policy, science, education programs, Nature Store, Resale Store, Nature Center, and wildlife rehabilitation.

Bergerson earned her Masters of Science Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and her bachelor’s degree in American Studies and English from the University of Kansas.
