Wildlife Veterinarian

Dr. PJ is responsible for medical oversight of the von Arx Wildlife Hospital and its wildlife patients. Her duties include planning, directing, and participating in emergency and daily patient care from admittance through release, in addition to assisting other Conservancy departments with veterinary care of permanent-resident animals.

Extensive experience as a wildlife rehabilitation veterinarian, coupled with work in endangered species conservation and oil spill wildlife emergency response, informed her desire to serve with an organization dedicated to protecting and advocating for both wildlife and their habitat. She joined the Conservancy in 2012.

Dr. PJ obtained her DVM from Colorado State with pre-veterinary study at UNM in Albuquerque, her home. She also trained in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine at the Chi Institute and emphasizes an individualized, integrative approach to patient care.
