Pat Walrath

January 2018

Patricia “Pat” Walrath was born and raised in Bad Axe, Michigan. She graduated from the University of Ann Arbor-Flint, Michigan with a BBA in Accounting. Pat and her husband Jerry have been married for over 40 years. And after 25-plus years of working for Genesee County Government, Flint, MI, she says retirement in Naples sounded wonderful.

LEARN MORE ABOUT VOLUNTEERING WITH THE CONSERVANCY

Pat and her husband moved to Naples as snow birds in 2002 and after two years, they decided to become permanent residents. Once in Florida full time, Pat took a job with the Florida Dept. of Health in Collier County and retired after 10 years there.

She says volunteering for a good cause was always on her mind, and after meeting a volunteer from the Conservancy who had wonderful things to say about her experiences, she decided she wanted work inside the von Arx Wildlife Hospital.

After retirement in August 2014, she started volunteering at the hospital one day a week and eventually added another day to work in the administrative office.

Pat says her love of nature made volunteering a wonderful way to learn about the native animals and the environment - especially the gopher tortoises.

Thank you, Pat, for your role in protecting Southwest Florida’s unique natural environment and quality of life…now and forever.
