George Lawton spent his childhood in southern California, while his professional life spanned Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Minneapolis. His diverse career evolved from sales to business development to compliance and privacy leadership roles, all within two large Twin Cities-based companies: Deluxe Corp and Ameriprise Financial.

After having vacationed in Naples for many years, he and his spouse made Naples their primary residence in 2013 and are proud to call it “home.”

George’s appreciation of nature and love of boating made volunteering as boat captain and kayak tour guide at the Conservancy a perfect fit. He enjoys providing passengers from all over the world with a unique Naples experience, highlighting environmental issues important in Southwest Florida, but also with universal relevance. What’s most rewarding to George is how frequently his passengers say “I knew the boat ride would be fun but I didn’t realize how much I would learn along the way!”

In recent years he has expanded his volunteer contributions at the Conservancy by becoming CoCoordinator of the Boat Program and Vice President of the volunteer organization’s Connection Board. While he didn’t originally intend to become so involved, his growing passion for environmental issues and for the Conservancy’s Mission made it seem like a natural progression.

While not fulfilling a shift at the Conservancy, George also enjoys volunteering at the Naples Botanical Garden as a docent.

We thank George for his role in protecting Southwest Florida’s unique natural environment and quality of life…now and forever.
