SUPPORT WILDLIFE REHABILITATION

Approximately 3,700 injured, sick and orphaned native animals are admitted to our wildlife hospital each year. Most injuries are preventable - including car strikes, domestic pet attacks, window collisions, fishing line and hook injuries, gunshots, and poisoning.

As Collier County’s only wildlife hospital, our goal is to rehab our wildlife so they can return home, to the wild, healthy and strong. As a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit, we rely on generous donors to help us continue this important work.

In the pictures below, you can see the devastating impacts that result when a car strikes a gopher tortoise - something that happens all too often here in Southwest Florida. You can also that same gopher tortoise after receiving care from the von Arx Wildlife Hospital.

We expect this tortoise to make a full recovery, but it will be a very extensive process and could be a year or more until the animal is completely rehabilitated and released.

When you consider time with our staff veterinarian, medicine, and food costs, caring for this tortoise alone is estimated to cost at least $20 a day.

Will you help fund this gopher tortoise's care for a day? A week? A month?

Please donate today and help our rehabilitating wildlife return home.
